Considering the district\u2019s industrial growth, rising road accidents, and the increasing need for religious tourism, the demand for approval of the Mul\u2013Chamorshi railway line has once again gained momentum. Taking cognizance of this demand, the office of Devendra Fadnavis has forwarded the concerned representation to the Transport & Ports Department as well as the Home Department for further necessary action, according to information received today.<\/p>\n
With the proposed JSW project in Bhendala area of Chamorshi taluka, the iron processing project at Konsari, and other emerging industries, a significant rise in freight movement is expected in the region. In this context, locals have emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated railway line to reduce the burden on road transport and to control the increasing number of accidents.<\/p>\n
It is noteworthy that on this issue, a letter sent by Shrimant Santosh Chhabilal Surpam, Central President of Markandeshwar Multipurpose Educated Unemployed Development Organization (CMS 28404, dated 14\/04\/2011), was acted upon and forwarded to the Railway Secretary, Ministry of Railways on April 20, 2011. Since then, continuous follow-ups have been made. Due to his efforts, correspondence has taken place at both state and central levels earlier as well; however, the proposal still remains pending.<\/p>\n
With the growth of industries in the district, there is a pressing need for a safe and efficient mode of transportation for coal, iron, construction materials, and finished goods. The establishment of a railway line would provide significant relief to industries and help reduce road accidents, thereby preventing loss of lives, it is believed.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the famous Markandadev pilgrimage site near Chamorshi attracts lakhs of devotees every year. Availability of railway connectivity would give a major boost to religious tourism and strengthen the local economy, as expressed by many.<\/p>\n
According to the letter received from the Chief Minister\u2019s Office, \u201cYour email has been received by this office and has been forwarded to the Transport & Ports Department and the Home Department (Aviation) for appropriate action.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cApproval of the Mul\u2013Chamorshi railway line should be granted at the earliest for the overall development of Gadchiroli district, and railway connectivity must be made mandatory for the proposed industries,\u201d reiterated Shrimant Santosh Surpam.<\/p>\n
